Tri- Ply as the name suggests is cookware with three layers: Food grade 304 Stainless steel stainless steel on the inside, Induction friendly Magnetic Stainless Steel on the outside and an encapsulated layer of highly conductive aluminum.
Food grade stainless steel, also referred to as 304 SS contains around 18% chromium and 8% nickel. Grade 304 stainless steel has the ability to withstand the corrosive action of various acids found in fruits, meats, milk, and vegetables. SS 304 is highly durable, heat resistant, corrosion resistant and most importantly highly safe and hygienic for use with food.
Most of the utensils available in the market are not food grade stainless steel, as the SS 304 is expensive and to make the utensils cheap manufacturers use lower quality of Stainless Steel and sometimes even use re-rolled steel. Now it is very difficult for a lay man to differentiate between the good quality and bad quality of stainless steel. Therefore it is always advisable to buy utensils of good brands and where it is clearly mentioned that Stainless Steel used is Food Grade.
Hard Anodized Cookware is created by treating aluminium with a process called 'electro-chemical anodizing'. This triumph of science has given us cookware that is twice as hard as stainless steel, conducts heat 28 times faster than glass, is scratch resistant and is stick resistant for life. It combines the durability of hard metal with the excellent conductivity of aluminium and offering a cooking surface that does not react with most of the foods, thus making it much safer than all aluminium and non- stick cookware.
